So, having been mostly studying music and not really writing any, I decided to spend a couple of hours making something. I’m not sure if I had it in mind from the start or if it just evolved that way, but it’s an 8-bit-ish “chip tune.” It’s the kind of music Mario would make if his 8-bit self joined a power pop band.

So I just got iPad and it’s owning me. It makes so much sense it hurts. Throw multitasking in here, a sweet sequencer/mixing app and it’ll be a while before I touch the computer outside of work.

Meanwhile, the awesome free app Beatwave is keeping me interested.

This piece was inspired by the above picture.

As I looked at this picture, I felt a sense of hope in hopelessness. Of loneliness. But because you can see distant light through the trees, it was only fleeting. As if the forest itself was relieved by it. I tried to capture those feelings, those sensations, in this piece.
